Marta Shpak welcomed and greeted a record number of spectators who attended the Ukrainian Independence Day celebration in Toronto this year

Independence Day signifies an important historical event for all Ukrainians from around the world. It is a celebrated milestone in the history of our country and our people, for Ukraine has prayed for this day to finally bless us. Even though we celebrate our Independence, our country is being invaded and our men, women and children are being killed by a neighboring country whose main purpose is to destroy all those who are fighting for freedom, justice and democracy.

The Ukrainian diaspora in Canada is one of the largest diasporas and this year a record number of Ukrainians, over twelve thousand, attended to celebrate Ukraine’s National Holiday.

Speeches from political dignitaries such as Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, member of parliament, Ted Opitz, Poland’s Ambassador to Canada Marchyn Bosatskii and Acting Consul General of Ukraine (Toronto) Lyudmila Davidovich expressed their support for Ukraine and its people, as well as the appreciation for the Canadian Ukrainians who have made great contributions towards the development of Canada.

Following the opening speeches, a spectacular concert showcased talents from Ukrainian performing artists and was brought to a close by Marta Shpak’s performance with her spiritual and patriotic Ukrainian songs. Afterwards she was presented with Ukraine’s National Music Award the “Galytskyy hit”, which was brought to her directly from Ukraine. The presentation of such an award was a delightful surprise for Marta Shpak and delighted all who attended the celelbrations!

Soon, Marta Shpak an Ambassador of Ukrainian songs and culture to the world and true Honored Artist of Ukraine will present her new video with talented Canadian musician Denni DeMarchi.
Currently, singer Marta Shpak, continues her studies in Canada and also tours with her concerts for support of the Ukrainian soldiers at the front line.

“We must save and defend our independence, be grateful for our heroes. And to all the fighters, who have perished for Ukraine I convey “Eternal memory” and sincere sympathies and respect to their families. “Heros never die! They continue to live in our hearts and prayers”

With song in my heart and love for Ukraine, Marta Shpak.”
